CONGREGATION MIKVEH ISRAEL'S THIRD ANNUAL
SEPHARDIC FILM FESTIVAL
March 14, 15, 19 and 20, 2012
Congregation Mikveh Israel’s Sephardic Jewish Film Festival was established in 2010 to heighten the awareness and understanding of the rich historical and cultural diversity of Sephardim by showing films that explore and celebrate Sephardic heritage.
Congregation Mikveh Israel, established in 1740 and the Synagogue of the American Revolution, is one of this country’s most distinguished religious and historic institutions. It’s Spanish and Portuguese service has continued almost unchanged since 1740. Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at Fourth Street between Arch and Market, we are both an active community and proud progeny of a distinguished heritage and tradition.
Come celebrate the rich and vibrant history, stories, customs and culture of Sephardic Jewry. Over four nights you will experience different facets of the Sephardic experience.
March 14: The Optimists: The Story of the Rescue of the Bulgarian Jews.
March 15: Expulsion & Memory:Descendants of the Hidden Jews and
